iPhone photography has come a long way since the rise of the App Store, and with it came the sharing of photos, thanks to Instagram. No doubt that it’s a really good app, but the community of iPhone photographers has been demanding some alternatives to those mainstream filters. The 10 awesome iPhone photography apps shown here is sure to be enjoyed by the hipsters that don’t want to settle for Instagram filters.

  • Diptic: Most of the time, sharing a single image does not explain the whole story, and neither is it acceptable to share in several posts. Diptic fixes this by letting you splice together two or three images into a simple collage and then conveniently share them to social networks. It’s a $2 app, every cent will be worth it if you’re someone who uses photo sharing daily.
  • Camera+: Though the average iPhone camera takes pretty decent shots, it doesn’t really give you much creative control. This is where Camera+ excels. The app has two parts: one for taking photos and one for editing them. From scenes to adjustments, you can also include photo filters and borders. The Camera+ app is a good addition to your iPhone.
  • Tiny Planet Photos: Some Photoshop enthusiasts know about the stereographical projections, but the Tiny Planet Photos app makes it convenient by stitching two ends of a photograph together, making it look like a tiny planet. It’s a free app and it’s extremely entertaining to view.
  • FX Photo Studio: With a giant pack of filters, you can choose from 187 different selections and blend it with your photograph. The interface to FX Photo Studio is top-notch, with an easy and clean design.
  • Clone Camera: This app is mainly for the bored ones who want to take a scene wherein he can appear several times. It's basically a case of taking up to four photos of the same person in a dissimilar location, and then selecting the areas you want to stitch together into the final photo.
  • Juxtaposer: Initially proposed as a goof-off app that will allow you to mix up different faces, Juxtaposer has also been used among professional photographers as a masking tool. It’s a great way to separate the subject of an image with a poor setting and place it in one that is brilliant and interesting. The uses for this one are only limited by your creativity.
  • Dynamic Light: A lot of photographers use the HDR treatment to an image after it’s already been shot. They make it pass through Dynamic Light app and set it for the desired amount of intensity. Images subject to Dynamic Light will look overly manipulated, but if you don’t mind that it can deliver an awesome effect.
  • Photo Wonder: It has an excellent collage feature with multiple layouts and photo booth effects. The filter selection isn’t vast, but most of the selections of Photo Wonder are so well-designed that you’ll find them far more valuable than the average app.
  • Photoshop Express: Well, what else can we expect from Adobe and the gods of editing? The interface and user experience of the Photoshop Express iPhone photo app is impeccable. It fulfils all the functions you need for picture editing and will probably be the one you turn to for absolute ease.
  • Filterstorm: Perhaps the most heavy and accomplished iPhone photo app of the year, Filterstorm is oftentimes compared to Adobe Lightroom. And just like Lightroom, it does the basics and it does them well. This is an app that you can’t afford to not have if you’re an iPhone photographer.
